Nadia: Valencia, CA
This project takes place in Nadia’s home in Valencia, California. After years of living in her Valencia home, Nadia finally felt it was time to give her home the upgrades it deserved. Giving her just that, we have installed a beautiful entry door along with custom iron railings along the interior staircase, to emphasize the European design of the home.
Custom designed by Nadia herself, and with the help from Demejico’s design team, we were able to create a stunning and unique custom entry door for the home. This wrought iron door is meant to impress and give just a taste of design for the rest of the home.
Shaped by hand, an off-centered, scroll pattern ironwork is what makes this door stand out amongst the rest. A sleek and smooth single panel on the lower half brings shape to the design, and showcases large, hand pounded iron studs. Harmonizing with the custom handle set, these small, but significant details come together to create a gorgeous entry door to Nadia’s home.
Whether Nadia desires complete privacy or wishes to enjoy a nice breeze, she has the best of both worlds with a fully custom, chinchilla textured glass piece. Allowing for a gratuitous amount of light to be carried into the home, this large glass piece is hinged from the inside, letting Nadia easily choose between an open or closed space.
Upon entering the home, Nadia and her guests will feel as if they are entering a European chateau. Instantly grabbing their attention, Nadia and her guests will stand in admiration of the newly complete, hand forged iron railings along the staircase. The eye-catching wrought iron railings were made to balance with the entry door, as they are each finished with the same key design influences.
In a move to modernize with some Victorian-style ironwork, Nadia approached us with a few design ideas of her own. Gathered from her favorite interior design magazines and designers on the net, each of these ideas represented a specific theme she wanted to incorporate.
In a bit of give-and-take, we were able to break down elements of her original designs and fuse them together with DeMejico’s impeccable ironwork to draft what you see here.
Gliding up the staircase, Nadia will appreciate grand starting-newel posts that are delicately curved, with subtle European scrolling at the base. Gently curving up into hand twisted bars, and featuring single scroll designs along the stairs and double inverse scroll centerpieces at the top and bottom, these hand forged iron hand railings pieces were shaped with only the most skillful approach to create a picturesque European appearance. Lastly, we have finished these handrails off with smooth beveled moldings.
One of the main highlights are the beautifully flowing, swan-inspired emblems laid into the stairway rails. The swan emblem started off as a standard Victorian scroll, which we expanded on utilizing or own original ideas and even implementing Nadia's unique designs as well. Each piece was meticulously crafted to ensure continuity and boldness.
The large mirrors, framed artworks, and many other pieces Nadia has collected over the years were all taken into consideration when creating the elements added to her home. These ornamental collections, along with our added entry door and railings all come together to create the unique, feminine personality that is this home.
