Linda: Santa Barbara, CA
Our most recent custom project takes place in Linda’s Spanish style home in warm, Santa Barbara, California. Throughout this Hacienda style home, DeMejico has furnished the main rustic dining room, a Spanish bedroom in the main home, as well as a rustic bedroom in the guesthouse. Our additions of mesquite wood, hand tooled leather, and hand pounded and forged wrought iron detailing further added to the authentic Spanish décor, architecture, and feel that was already present in Linda’s home.
The first additions to Linda’s home takes place in the grand Spanish dining room. Grabbing your attention right away is the oversized, 19ft dining table, sitting under a hand forged, wrought iron chandelier. This tabletop is made from thick, natural, reclaimed wood, that beautifully ties into the authentic, timber-beamed ceiling. In our classic Gitana style, four teardrop bases with beveled edges make up the bottom half of this Spanish style table. Made from solid mesquite wood, these bases showcase natural stretches and imperfections, and bring out the same beautiful details that are present in the other additions to this impressive rustic dining room.
Each side of the dining table is decorated with nine beautiful, hand-carved chairs. These solid mesquite chairs are hand carved with our popular Hoja style design in mind, and feature smooth, hand tooled leather. Not only do these chairs bring in style, but they also bring in a great deal of comfort for Linda and all of her guests.
Taking inspiration from our Concha style armoires, the finishing additions to this Spanish dining room are the two carved hutches that sit on the longest walls. Custom made for Linda’s Rustic style home, and made from solid mesquite wood, these grand, hand carved pieces bring final touches of Spanish style.
Starting with the top half, and taking design inspiration from our Concha style, a hand carved shell and twisted rope detailing runs along the top of the piece. Intricately carved, these details draw attention to the two tall cabinets that sit on each end. With glass double doors, and glass shelving on the inside, the space is perfect for display. Completing the top half of these hutches, we have placed a large mirror in between the two cabinets. By reflecting the space, not only do these mirrors make it appear even larger, but further enhance the luxurious presence.
The bottom half of these hutches feature six drawers along with three, double door cabinets, for a great deal of storage space. Making sure not to take away from the other beautiful pieces in the room, these drawers and cabinets were designed with simple raised paneling. Not only do they match the sides of the piece, but also showcase the mesquite wood. Finishing off these hutches, hand forged iron handles, pulls, and hardware have been added to each of the drawers and cabinets, completing the Spanish style of the rustic dining room.
Adding in a bed, two completely custom nightstands, and a small dresser, the first bedroom we have furnished in Linda’s home is filled with Spanish style. Unlike any other Spanish bedroom we’ve furnished before, this space is set apart from most. The main wall that encapsulates the bed and nightstands, features a stunning arch that actually curves into the wall, making for unique designs in the rustic bedroom furniture.
Beginning with the main focal point, the bed is our classic, Alamo Bed with Tooled Leather. Setting it apart from our normal beds, we have custom created this bed with a platform, rather than a matching footboard. In doing so, the bed sits directly on the floor, and all attention is focused on the striking headboard. Featuring an authentic Spanish arch, this headboard is complete with hand-selected leather than has been hand tooled and stitched in our Alamo style design. Surrounded by solid mesquite wood, forged iron straps, and hand-pounded iron clavos, the headboard receives the attention it deserves.
Matching this bed, and continuing with the Alamo style, two nightstands have each been custom made to fit into the unique arch shape of the wall. Short and stout, these nightstands are made from solid mesquite wood, and beautifully showcase the natural stretches and movements of the wood.
With all of the classic details of our Alamo style, these nightstands feature iron straps, pounded clavos, raised paneling, and hand forged iron hardware.
Finishing off this first rustic bedroom, we have added in a smaller version of our Alamo Dresser. Complementing the style and designs of the other pieces, this dresser features the same classic details of mesquite wood, raised paneling, and hand forged iron accents and hardware. With six drawers, this Alamo dresser provides ample storage space for the room.
The final furnished rooms in Linda’s Santa Barbara home take place in her quaint guesthouse. Featuring two bedrooms separated by a small living room area, Linda decided to go with identically styled spaces. In these two bedrooms, we have added in a version of our Hacienda Panel Bed, along with two Mesquite Alamo Nightstands on each end, and like the first bedroom, a smaller version of our Alamo Dresser.
Starting off with the beds, these Hacienda Panel Beds bring in a bold and eye-catching presence. Made from solid mesquite wood, the headboard and footboard feature deep, offset paneling and raised posts, beautifully showcasing the natural stretches, movements, and imperfections of the wood.
Paired with these beds, the Mesquite Alamo Nightstands are also made from solid mesquite, but show off a little bit of a different Spanish style. Similar to the beds, these nightstands also feature raised paneling, but are accented with iron straps, pounded clavos, and hand forged iron hardware. Each with one drawer and a double door cabinet, these nightstands provide a variety of storage spacing for Linda’s guests.
Completing these guest bedrooms, the last additions are the Alamo Dressers. Identical to the dresser we added in Linda’s home, these guest bedroom dressers are made from solid mesquite wood, and feature the same details of raised paneling, hand forged iron accents and hardware, and six drawers.
Carefully designed to fit into the environment of Southern California, Linda’s Spanish style home provides the perfect blend of Hacienda style with its surrounding California vibe. The home is finished with neutral colored floors and walls, enhancing our additions of mesquite woods, tooled leathers, and detailed iron accents. Providing both function and form, our additions in the rustic dining room, bedrooms, and guest house give the spaces and added touch of authentic, Spanish style.
